Board & Train vs. One-On-One Training

Everyone wants a perfectly behaved dog, but unless your dog has had training in the past, you will likely be starting from scratch when you bring your dog home. Getting the perfect, well-behaved dog takes a lot of work, but it will definitely be worth it in the end. If you’re interested in dog training in Berthoud, Longmont, or Boulder, Dog Days is here to help! We’re proud to offer our board and train program, and in our post below, we’ll explain more about the difference between our program and one-on-one training. Overnight Stay

The biggest difference to note between board and train versus one-on-one training is that board and train involves overnight stays. For example, at Dog Days, we require that for your first board and training you leave your dog with us for a minimum of 14 to 21 days. With one-on-one training, on the other hand, you’ll likely either do the training on your own or schedule one-hour sessions weekly.

Training and Play Time

What many people don’t realize about board and train programs is that your dog isn’t constantly working the entire time they are there. At Dog Days, we believe that it’s extremely important to balance training with a little bit of fun, which is why we give the dogs in our program plenty of time to run around, swim, and more! With one-on-one training, the sessions are very training-focused, especially since the sessions are usually shorter.

Who Benefits the Most?

Most people believe that board and train programs are only for dogs that are stubborn or difficult to train, but that’s not necessarily the case. While these programs are definitely extremely beneficial for those types of dogs, our board and train program at Dog Days can be beneficial to any type of dog. One-on-one training, on the other hand, is a great option for all dogs, and if you’re finding it to be more difficult, you may consider a board and train program.

More Skills In Less Time

Another big difference between board and train programs and one-on-one training is the progress. With one-on-one training, it could take months for your dog to learn multiple new skills. This is because you’re only training for short periods of time. With board and train programs, we’re constantly working with the dogs in one way or another to help them learn more skills and better manners, so when they come home, they will know more skills than with one-on-one training.
