Our Philosophy

Dogs are not people. Your canine thinks differently than you do as a human. We believe it is necessary for people to understand how their dog learns so they can better communicate with and care for their canine friends. We train beyond commands and obedience to focus on the psychology and communication that allows for a well-balanced canine companion who has the ability to learn anything you can teach.

We specialize in giving dogs and their guardians a good foundation toward developing the kind of partnership that leads to long-term success. Our main focus in behavioral modification training is on impulse control, frustration tolerance, the ability to lower arousal and developing a working attitude.
We are major proponents of humans learning to read canine body language, and much of our work with people includes teaching them how to understand what their dog is communicating through body language. We help people learn what to look for to prevent mistakes and misunderstandings.

At Dog Days we believe that relationship-building does not happen overnight. Relationship-building takes time and consistency.
We believe that training your dog is not an option. It is an obligation of canine guardianship. We can help make that obligation fun and educational for both you and your dog.

We train all sizes, ages, and breeds of dogs. pictured is a young Great Dane, and a smooth Coat Fox Terrier who is deaf. The terrier is learning hand signals while working with the distraction of the Great Dane. Both dogs are off-leash and areappropriately socializing.

The picture above shows an interaction between a young pup properly offering humility to an older mature dog.

A cattle dog clearly communicates with a “hard eye” that he is not ready to play.
