What should I bring when I drop off my dog for Board & Train?
Q: When is the best age to begin training my puppy?
A: As soon as your pup comes home, he is learning. Your job is to prevent him from getting into mischief with management, and to teach him the rules for living in your home. For further information, check out the resources page for some excellent books and request that we e-mail you a copy of the article Puppy Charm School.

Q: What is the purpose of the initial private session?
A: This is a chance for you to meet Laurie, ask for help with any questions you have about your dog, and to see how our training techniques will work with your dog. This also helps Laurie choose the right class for you dog and offer ideas for helping you prepare for the class you and your dog will attend.

Q: Can other family members attend class so they will be able to help train our dog at home?
A: Yes, family members are allowed to observe classes. We do ask that only one person work the dog in class and that very young children have an adult with them. When the dogs have play breaks during class we don't want any children accidentally knocked over.

Q: What will a day look like for my dog while he is Boarding and Training at your center?
A: A typical day involves time spent working on obedience skills both privately and with other dogs. There is also play/social time with other dogs and quiet time in their pen. Meals are fed twice a day and the dogs sleep in a pen or crate at night depending on the dog. The dog barn is cooled in the summer and heated in the winter.

Q: Will my dog remember who I am after staying at Dog Days and training with Laurie?
A: Yes your dog will know you when you pick him up. At your pick up meeting, Laurie will have a written summary for you and show you how to follow through with your dog when you get home. Some very clever dogs will want to fall back into some of the bad habits they had at home, but if you are consistent you will be able to prevent this from happening.

Q: My dog slept for two days when he got home from his Board & Train visit, is this normal?
A: Yes, because he used his brain for training and his body for play, he will be tired when he first comes home. Since a calm dog is a dog that is ready to learn, use this time to establish the new rules and get your training off to a good start.
