About Dog Days

Laurie Buffington is the owner/trainer of Dog Days Training Center. She is a member and Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) with the Association for Pet Dogs Trainers (APDT), and a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).

Laurie has been a dog trainer for over 15 years, and her background includes 8 years as a trainer with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and 11 years as a service dog trainer. Laurie has also been an Advanced Trainer for Canine Partners of the Rockies (CaPR). Knowing the value of education, Laurie attends various seminars throughout the year to stay current with information on dog training and behavior. One of those experiences was a study that had her spending time with wolves in their environment, learning from them.

Laurie's extensive work with aggressive dogs has both veterinarians and the courts referring dogs to her for assessment. Learning how dogs think, understanding a dog's body posture, and careful socializing are key to having a safe and devoted companion. Body language is a dog's way of communicating with another dog. Laurie and her friend/trainer Camille Belpedio CPDT, were invited to speak on this topic in September 2002 at the Colorado Association of Animal Control Officers Regional Conference in Glenwood Springs.

At Dog Days Training Center, teaching people how to train a safe, well-mannered dog is the top priority. Laurie trains people how to read their dogs and how to reinforce the behaviors they want from their dogs. In both her private and group classes, Laurie believes that training people to become good dog handlers enables them to create the dog they want in their life.
